Attack and Resolution
12/28/01
In a darkened bed of night cradled I slept
With one eye cocked to check the evil being
That haunted me, with sudden motion leapt
From the shadows of my undiscovered self
To pounce upon my breast, its stranglehold
A firm and ever-tightening noose of hate.
I fought and grasped those iron wrists, those hands
So cold that threatened to annihilate
The spark of soul and still its breath of light.
As its grip intensified I knew,
I knew the way to overcome The Fiend,
With one last failing gasp I called and drew
Upon the power of Her mighty name.
He to the darkness quickly did retreat,
The steel-like fingers loosened of their grasp
The demon-force ignoble in defeat.
Since last he came the fleeting decades passed
And now within a calm of certainty,
A Presence and a light that guards and builds
In densest clay the home of deity.
The being resolved, the flame yet higher grows
And all begins to slowly coalesce,
Though still no firm commitment to the goal,
With body's apathy and mind's duress.
Yet something seeks and someone nobly strives,
A consciousness desirous of its source,
With Grace instilled and all-embracing love,
Acknowledges the power of Their Force.
His calm attends and sweet compassion flows
That keeps the vessel on its godward course,
Her joy within no sorrow can dislodge
The avatars of God, our soul's resource.
